My River Mural includes many small vignettes of the wild animals I have seen in my lifetime of exploring the incredibly varied habitats of my area. Within a few miles you can find everything from alpine tundra at nearly 13,000 feet; pine, spruce and aspen forests dotted with lakes and meadows and strung with rushing mountain creeks; rugged sagebrush steppes with boulders, cliffs, draws and cedars; river valley with hay meadows and cottonwoods; and desert with rattlesnakes, alkali flats, and sand dunes. Needless to say, all these wild habitats are home to a wide variety of wildlife species. I do not, however, paint the "wildlife." I paint individual animals doing the things I have seen them actually do.
